I guess most people don't much like it, but they admire Vinnie and realise (from what others have said) that the religious stuff is key to his stability and happiness, therefore it can't really be argued with.

I wish he could be happy another way, without praising the Lord all the time, but thats pretty selfish of me, and really quite absurd..

I have always loved Chicks works. I was at the "Eye of the beholder" gig out here in L.A. a year ago at the Greek. Chicks dramatic vision of theatrics and music was only his. The weather was a cool 75 degrees, the sun was just setting thru the trees and across the mountains, and then the suttle opening tune from the album commenced with Chick playing a delicate piano solo. It was just beautiful. Then the ballerinas came out and gave their little performance in swing with the music. It was just perfect.

As an ex-keyboard player, I guess I have always thought in terms of music before rhythm. When I would check out keyboardists in my earlier years, there were few that were laying down the concrete like Chick did/is. Certainly a distinctive style.

Let me say this, & i'll get back to the other, um, accusations later, as i really don't want to get invlolve in yet another religious or spiritual debate.

I think petrushka may have overreacted...perhaps. I mean, took issue? Mad, red face? Emotions rising? No need..."Go ahead - send hate mail, I expect it." What? Sounds like you were predisposed/had your mind made up/ready for an argument - "hate," if you will, b4 it even came. There was no "hate" there. Why would you expect that, even unecessarily or really unwarranted, if you think about it? You "made your own self angry" at a simple statement of opinion or fact, & "expected" hate responses. What i said was not intended with malice. Who shows a hint of possible intolerance here? [& i never "applauded" anything pertaining to Vince...other than his incredible drumming ability!] Let me clarify some points of observation...

It is virtually IMPOSSIBLE for someone on either side of the coin to convince the OTHER of their opinion...esp with so many misconceptions, assumptions, & outright lies coming from either side of the coin sometimes...the real outrage is when either side takes it upon themselves to "correct" the other. THIS is where true intolerance lies. And the cold hard fact is that many on the far right AS WELL AS left are guilty of this very same thing; the pot calling the kettle black...even if one thinks something is a completely ridiculous sounding philosophy in their own opinion. I've seen many instances of blatant hypocrisy & intolerance on BOTH sides of the coin in relation to this principle.

My true inner feelings are in complete compliance with what PC has last stated. CC may simply be interested in scientology as someone else might enjoy a Harry Potter flick.

But my sentiments were about the guts of the core of scientology philosophy, whcih, IN MY HUMBLE OPINION, is completely farcical, & potentially dangerous. Scientology itself singled out; not nec simply CC. Just making an observation w/o name-calling. You never heard me call him a d*mbsh*t for believing in scientology. Even if i were to feel that way or not. I've always said he's a completely fabtastic muso & nice fellow regardless.

BTW...I've never read a STORY about Jesus where he ever harmed or murdered anyone, or did much of anything for self gain...as many false religious leaders tend to do in this day & age...& always have. But then, i would be wiser than to call them a true Christian either...if someone bombed an abortion clinic & killed the doctor & all it's employees, & then called themselves a "christian" [& "God called them to do it"] in the newspaper interview, does anyone honestly believe that this poerson was EVER in fact a true "christian?!" Come on, use the ole grey matter...just a little FYI...they're called "liars" & "lunatics"...same with the Crusades & such...in my experience, true, actual christians don't want to murder anyone...except those who would enter your home & do harm to your family...then it very well may be "god help them" when they're hastily, justifiably, & rightfully dispatched to the "other side." At least last I checked the good ole' constitution.

Likewidse there are many impostors & impersonators in any religion," ESPECIALLY today's christianity. If someone is dull enough to look at any loon's actions [including the vast majority of televangelists/healers/con artists, who use many things including guilt, fear, shame, spin, & ignorance as tools of their trade, AWA to bilk some fragile, nervous elderly person out of their SS checks or retirement fund] & not know enough about this "christianity" to discern whether or not that person is in fact a true "christian," then do some research...on both christainity [AND scientology]...it's the generally peaceful AWA good-will philosophies put forth by this jesus that's espoused by his followers. No crime there. It's when individuals' insidious self-agendas get "sneaked" into the mix is when it gets blurred...a problem in NO way limited to this "christianity" in any way. Look about your world today...& your workplace.

Last time i checked, the true nature of christianity is supposed to help free one of those very bonds/shackles/tactics. At least in my understanding. & Last i read the 1st 4 gospel [as they're called] accounts, I don't recall the man ever going around trying to forcefully impose his will on unsuspecting others...which can't be said for some "self-proclaimed christians" today [i said some]...think about it...Oh well. Guess ya jes can't win 'em all over.

Same with, say, Martin Luther King's or Ghandi's peaceful philosophies. I don't hear anyone wanting to silence any of their "followers." But mention the name jesus, & lo & behold, you gots yerself a fracas...hey boys n girls...this jesus actually historically "never really hurt nobody." [img]wink.gif[/img] [Just maybe some of these extremist/fanatical ars*h*l*s who "claim to be" his "followers"...&/or otherwise/not.]...in fact, he didn't even have a prison record...& history shows he was unjustly executed on an unjust charge/accusation. And the peeps who commited THAT act...were def NOT "christians." [img]wink.gif[/img]

I think the only real act of aggression on jesus' part was when he drove out the merchants [& so-called religious leaders of the time] who were beating peeps out of their $$ in the "church." It's kinda like bootleggers for $$...You & everyone else would've done the same thing, if it was YOUR hard-worked product. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

"You" love your children when they're small [hopefully, if you're not some *ssh*l*...not YOU Joes, just in general statement]...& sometimes this means correcting them when they're way out of line buy a few slight whacks to the proper little padded area as the situation requires or needs be...or an adult, to the degree with which their punishment should be of equal means, such as in the judicial system.
In this way..."love" your enemy.

Someone may think being a christian or any other "religion" or philosohy is a silly thing, & you in fact have a "god-given[!]" or constitutionally protected right to that opinion...but they should NEVER base their assumption on any other individual's OR "groups'" supposed claims OR behavior...nor try to forceably inflict your opinion on someone else who's not accepting...THAT would indeed be assinine...and in fact, VERY intolerable AWA it would seem truthfully "un-christian"...my experience & understanding anyway.]

BTW - a little FYI - he's called by his Greek name today. His Jewish name ATT was actually "Joshua" [pronounced, "Yah-SHEW-uh," or sometimes, "YAH-shew-uh"] But alas, i digress. Jes a little something i picked up over the years. No biggie. /;-p

If you want to believe he was/is the son of god, more power to you. No skin off my neck. ALA you don't use it to further your OWN self agenda unjustly into someone else's space. That's something else outside of the initial true dogma entirely. Like the whole nativity scene thing. Gimme a break. I don't go around telling folks not to put minorahs out on their property, or not to say "happy kwaanza"...& i really don't care if the gov't does it either [the whole church & state thing]. it doesn't harm me in any way shape or form one way or the other. I've WAY more important things to worry about than that sort of trite, trivial trot. ALA the gov't doesn't FORCE any "religions" on any of it's citizens, no problemos. & it works the OTHER way around as well. AND from ONE citizen to ANOTHER. Tolerance[?]...

In this lies the true nature of the word we sling around so often...tolerance.
